Stéphanie Carroll

Favourite sports: Figure skating & Formula 1

Stéphanie is a third year law student with a background as a competitive ice dancer and varsity athlete. She is passionate about the intersection of sports and law, focusing on issues such as doping, athlete rights, and international sports governance. She currently interns at the World Anti-Doping Agency in the Compliance Unit.

Favourite TV shows: Community & How I Met Your Mother

Sarah is a lot of things - a 3L law student, a part-time YouTuber, an occasional photographer/videographer, a recreational graphic designer, and a TV sitcom enthusiast. She works at the Centre for Media, Technology and Democracy, and is cognizant of the privacy and data protection concerns that flood new forms of media. She is pursuing a career in entertainment law to protect artists, whether that's through labour protections, technology regulations, or IP litigation.

Marielle McCrum

Marielle McCrum is a third year law student at McGill. Active in Montreal's comedy community, she regularly performs at Montreal Sketchfest with her sketch comedy trio, Madame. Marielle is interested in intellectual property as it relates to creative endeavours and hopes to one day support artists in protecting their work.

Hubert, born and raised in Montreal, has had sports as a big part of his life, competing for many years in various disciplines. With a strong interest in the intersection of sports, entertainment, business, and law, Hubert is excited to join the McGill Sports and Entertainment Law Association as VP Finance. Though he has not yet decided on a specific career path, he looks forward to exploring the opportunities within the world of entertainment and sports law.

David is a self-proclaimed “movie buff” who is deeply passionate about fostering a community of entertainment professionals at McGill and in Montreal. His previous experience in the entertainment industry before MSELA involved interning with William Morris at the Cannes Film Festival and working as a junior marketer for Canadian music label Little Symphony. The areas of entertainment law which interest David the most are copyright and IP law, the changing nature of contracts in the streaming era, and the obligations a studio has to an artist with the release or production of a film. David is also an avid Liverpool FC and Vancouver Canucks fan.

Jenna Daley

Favourite movie: 10 Things I Hate About You

Favourite hockey team: Vancouver Canucks

Jenna is a 3L and co-Vice President of Events for MSELA. Interested in the intersections of corporate and tax law within the entertainment and sports sectors, she looks forward to creating meaningful opportunities for the McGill law community to engage with industry leaders and explore the dynamics of the profession. In the winter, she can be found cheering on the Vancouver Canucks or downhill skiing, while in the summer, she tries to motivate herself to run more than twice a week. Jenna is excited for the 2024-2025 year at MSELA.

Favourite athlete: Patrice Bergeron

Vincent played competitive hockey all his life. He even had the privilege to be named captain of his team a few times. Outside the rink, he is also passionate about the different social and legal aspects that rule the game of hockey at the professional level.

Elana Svenningsen

Favourite (recent) musical: Cabaret

Prior to law school, Elana was involved in every aspect of the performing arts. From teaching dance, to costume designing for local musical theatre productions, you could always find her working in a theatre. Elana's passion for the performing arts is what initially drew her to join MSELA last year and since then her time with MSELA has only solidified her decision to pursue a career in the intersection of the arts and the law.

Brianna MacNeil

She/her/elle | 1L

Favourite artists: Pixies & Mazzy Star

Brianna has an academic background in Political Science, with a particular focus on Political Philosophy. Almost immediately after being admitted to the program, she eagerly began researching the types of classes McGill Law offers. She noticed that Sports and Entertainment law was a field underrepresented in the curriculum, which sparked her excitement to explore something unique. Having grown up in a very musical family, Brianna developed a passion for music at an early age. She finds the intersection between an artist's creation and Intellectual Property particularly fascinating. Now, as a 1L in her first semester, Brianna aims to keep an open mind in various areas of law, focusing on building a solid foundation across multiple fields before considering specialization.

Molly Lohner

Molly is a 1L student who is excited to come back to McGill after doing her undergrad here in History and taking a year off to travel around Australia. She joined MSELA because she is curious to learn about the acting contracts and workers’ rights regimes that govern the lives of her favourite stars of the stage and screen.

Pablo Mhanna-Sandoval

Pablo Mhanna-Sandoval is a law student but also a reader, writer, and watcher of movies. He enjoys the arts, specifically that of storytelling through any medium. He got involved with MSELA to learn about the legal footwork behind the release of every great story. Pablo intends to work in corporate or entertainment law while continuing to experience and support the arts in his spare time.

Yasmine Liani

Favourite TV show: Mad Men

Yasmine is a third-year law student at McGill. Before law school, she completed a DEC in Social Sciences at Vanier College. Yasmine was drawn to MSELA to help promote accessibility to a career in sports and entertainment, be it through the club’s mentorship program or various academic and social events throughout the year. In the future, she hopes to work in Legal & Business Affairs within the film production space. She's also always looking for film & TV recommendations or time to talk about the newest awards season contenders!
